Best beaches in Mallorca for families are more than just pretty coastlines — they need calm waters, soft sand, and easy facilities so both kids and parents can relax. If you’re planning a family trip to Mallorca, finding the right beach can make or break your holiday. Luckily, Mallorca is full of family-friendly beaches that tick all the boxes. What Makes a Beach Family-Friendly?
Shallow, calm waters for safe swimming
Soft sand with space for kids to play
Toilets, showers, and restaurants nearby
Parking or easy public transport access
Sunbeds and umbrellas for comfort

Here are some of the best beaches in Mallorca for families:
Alcúdia Beach
Alcúdia Beach is one of the best family-friendly beaches in Mallorca — and for good reason. The sand is fine and white, the water is crystal clear, shallow, and noticeably warmer than in many other Mediterranean destinations. Waves are calm, making it perfect for kids or less confident swimmers. You’ll find sunbeds and umbrellas available at reasonable daily rates, and plenty of space if you prefer to just lay down your towel. The beach is also lined with bars, bathrooms, and shady spots under palm trees and pines, which makes spending the whole day here easy and comfortable.

Playa de Muro
Just along the coast from Alcúdia, Playa de Muro is another popular choice for families. A promenade connects the two, and walking here takes you past pine groves right by the water. Compared to Alcúdia, the beach feels narrower and often more crowded. The entrance to the sea is slightly steeper, which may not be as ideal for young children. That said, facilities and restaurants are close at hand, so it can still be a good option if you’re staying near Playa de Muro.

Cala Millor
On the east coast, Cala Millor offers a wide sandy beach with shallow waters. It’s well-developed, with restaurants, shops, and activities nearby. Families love the pedestrian-friendly promenade where kids can safely walk or ride bikes.
Cala d’Or Beaches
Cala d’Or is known for its small coves with crystal-clear water. The beaches here are smaller but often calmer, making them great for younger children. Facilities are within easy reach, and the town itself has plenty of family-friendly accommodation.
Port de Pollença Beach
This beach is quieter compared to Alcúdia but still great for families. The shallow, calm waters are perfect for kids, and there’s a lovely promenade for strolling. Many families choose to book accommodation in Port de Pollença for its relaxed vibe.
Santa Ponsa Beach
Located in the southwest, Santa Ponsa Beach is wide and sandy with plenty of space for families. The town has good infrastructure, making it easy to find restaurants, shops, and family-friendly hotels within walking distance.
Cala Mesquida
If you’re looking for something a bit more natural, Cala Mesquida is a great option. Surrounded by dunes, it has shallow waters near the shore. While it’s less developed, there are still restaurants and basic facilities, making it manageable for families who prefer a quieter spot.
Es Trenc
Es Trenc, in the south of Mallorca, is often described as the island’s Caribbean beach thanks to its turquoise water and long stretch of white sand. It’s more natural than other beaches, with fewer resorts and a protected dune landscape. Families enjoy the shallow waters and relaxed vibe, but it’s best to bring snacks and water since facilities are limited. A rental car in Mallorca makes getting here much easier.
Cala Agulla
On the northeast coast, Cala Agulla is surrounded by pine forests and dunes, creating a natural and scenic backdrop. The beach is wide, sandy, and well-suited for families, with shallow entry into the sea. There are restaurants and facilities close by, so it’s easy to spend the whole day here.
Cala Mondragó
Located in a protected natural park in the southeast, Cala Mondragó is made up of two small coves connected by a short path. The clear, calm waters and surrounding pine forest make it a favorite for families. The beach has lifeguards, a couple of restaurants, and shaded picnic areas, so you can easily spend a relaxed day here with kids. If you don’t want to drive, you can book a Cala Mondragó day trip.
Our Family Favorites
From our own trip, Alcúdia Beach stood out the most. The water was warmer and calmer than we’ve experienced in places like Sardinia, Crete, or Sicily, which made it perfect for kids. Sunbeds were reasonably priced, facilities were clean, and natural shade meant we could easily spend the whole day there.
We also walked along the coast to Playa de Muro, passing pine groves right by the water. While it was beautiful, we found it narrower, busier, and with a steeper entrance into the sea — not as ideal for small children as Alcúdia. Still, if you’re staying nearby, it’s worth a visit.
Family Travel Tips for Mallorca Beaches
Arrive early in summer to secure a good spot, especially at popular beaches.
Bring snacks and water if you’re visiting smaller coves without restaurants.
Consider renting a car to reach the best beaches around the island.
Book accommodation nearby if you plan to spend several days at the same beach.
Final Thoughts
Mallorca has no shortage of beautiful beaches, but when traveling with kids, some are more practical than others. For convenience, Alcúdia is hard to beat, while Playa de Muro offers an alternative if you’re nearby. Families looking for more natural settings will enjoy Es Trenc, Cala Agulla, or Cala Mondragó.
