Things to do in Alcudia Mallorca aren’t just about beach bars and party boats. If you’re looking for a relaxing, family-friendly, and still slightly off-the-radar destination, Alcudia might surprise you. After spending a one-week vacation here with my family in June 2025, I put together this list of laid-back activities that combine culture, nature, and convenience.

Walk the Old Town of Alcudia
The historic center of Alcudia is walled, pedestrian-friendly, and full of charm. You’ll find cobblestone alleys, boutique shops, local restaurants, and a quiet, easy vibe that’s perfect for kids. It’s small enough to explore in an hour or two but offers plenty of reasons to linger (especially around lunch or sunset).
Don’t miss the medieval walls — you can walk parts of them for a better view.
Spend Lazy Afternoons on Playa d’Alcudia
This is probably the most family-friendly beach we’ve ever visited in Europe. The sand is soft and white, the sea is warm and shallow, and the beach is incredibly clean and well maintained. Lounge chairs are widely available but not crammed together, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed.
Perfect if you want a beach day without chaos.

Visit the Local Market (Tuesdays & Sundays)
On market days, Alcudia’s old town becomes even more vibrant. You’ll find fresh fruit, handmade crafts, clothes, and lots of souvenirs. It does get busier than usual, so arrive early if you want to avoid the midday rush.
We found it surprisingly enjoyable even with kids in tow.
Take a Mini Road Trip to Mirador Es Colomer
This is one of the easiest and most rewarding drives you can take from Alcudia. The view from Mirador Es Colomer is spectacular, especially around golden hour. It’s just 25–30 minutes away by car, and the road is scenic but manageable.
There’s a small parking area at the viewpoint, and you don’t need to hike far.
For car rentals, we arranged everything through a local provider recommended by our hotel. They made the process smooth, from booking to pick-up right at our accommodation.
Enjoy a Sunset Dinner at the Beach
Alcudia has several casual beach restaurants that offer a perfect view of the sea. No need to book months in advance or spend a fortune. We loved being able to eat good food while the kids played nearby in the sand.
Try grilled fish or local pa amb oli (bread with tomato and olive oil) for something simple and regional.
Explore the Port or Take a Short Boat Ride
Port d’Alcudia has a small marina, a few shops, and boat tours that range from 1-hour trips to full-day excursions. If you want a change of scenery without a huge time commitment, hop on a short boat ride with glass-bottom viewing or dolphin spotting.

What Not to Waste Time On
Avoid wandering too far into touristy zones near big resorts
Skip restaurants that don’t post menus or prices (red flag!)
Palma day trips can be fun, but traffic and parking make it stressful unless well planned
Final Tips for Visiting Alcudia
Rent a car if you want to explore beyond the beach
Respect road rules — Palma has restricted zones under video surveillance
Don’t count on restaurants being open all day. Some only open after 1:30 or 2pm
Pack reef-friendly sunscreen and water shoes for the kids
